My name is David Lie-Tjauw
wow! i am THRILLED that you made it to my little corner of web2.
takes a seat
for starters — I was born and raised in Kansas, far away from the electricity of Silicon Valley. In high school, I was actually a sweet potato farmer with aspirations of studying horticulture at a local community college. When I ran out of soil sensors for my field trials, I started making my own sensors by learning to program cheap microcontrollers.
My appreciation for the world around me comes from my family, who hails from a tiny South American melting pot called Suriname. Growing up, I would eat our staples of bakabana and cassava, dance to music from our Carribean cousins, speak our native dialect of "Taki Taki", and even learned to hunt in the Amazon.
Whenever my laptop is closed and phone turned to silent, you’ll find me hammocking outside in my Chacos, experimenting with my airfryer, and devouring Stephen King horror novels.
I’ve since learned that everybody has their own story, and now that I’ve shared a bit of mine, I’m eager to learn about yours!

I've had a winding career so far as a product manager, software engineer, and inventor
These days I'm a Product Manager @ Twitter building a new kind of social commerce platform that leverages the power of the public conversation to help customers discover and consider new products.
Previously I led part of Twitter's Growth team where we focused on helping our millions of logged-out visitors become happy, engaged customers.
